Girls Go!Program Kits

Girls Go! programs are kits that include all of the supplies and information your group needs to complete each fun program. These programs also provide convenient ways for your group to earn badges and learn exciting, new things!

Girls Go! programs are available year-round and must be reserved in advance of pick up by contacting the council by phone or visiting the council Web site.

Program cost varies according to contents. You will be required to sign a content replacement agreement to insure that damaged, unreturned or lost items will be replaced and the program will be returned by deadline. No deposit is required.  You may keep a program for up to two weeks at a time. After this two-week period, the program must be returned with all required contents.  Some programs can be shipped to you for an additional $30. Required program materials must also be returned at your cost. Shippable programs are marked with an asterisk. There will be prize drawings throughout the year for groups or individuals who check out the Girls Go! programs.  For questions or to reserve a kit, please contact the Adult Development and Program Services team.

*Around the World
Who: K - 1st Grade, 1st Grade - 3rd Grade
Cost: $6.00 per girl

This program teaches girls about a variety of cultures and people around the world. Girls will learn about the cultures of Morocco, Finland and Peru; take part in activities related to the cultures and gain new perspectives on diversity. This program also helps girls earn the Around the World Try-It. Each girl will take home a craft and storybook (insignia not included).  Please allow 2-3 hours for this program.

*Branch Out! ®
Who: K- 1st Grade, 1st - 3rd Grade, 3rd Grade - 6th Grade, Girls 11-14, Girls 14-17
Cost: $7.00 per group

Branch Out! is an award-winning discovery game in which participants learn more about each other and themselves. The game is used to advance acceptance and appreciation of self and others through connection development. The game also assists in career development and realization of potential. The Learning Tree patch is a good match for this program (insignia not included).

*The Business World
Who: 3rd Grade - 6th Grade, Girls 11-14, Girls 14-17
Cost: 3rd Grade - 6th Grade: $3.00 per girl, Girls 11-17 : $4.00 per girl

This program teaches girls about starting their own businesses. Activities include creating a business plan, learning about successful young entrepreneurs, creating advertisements and more. This program helps girls in 3rd - 6th grades work toward earning the Business-Wise badge. This program also helps Girl Scouts 11-17 work toward completing the Mind Your Own Business focus book program and the Dollars and Sense and Your Own Business interest project patches. Girls 11-14 and 11-17 groups will get a focus book (insignia not included).

*CentsAbility
Who: Girls 11-14 (contact us for information about a kit for 3rd Grade - 6th Grade)
Cost: $3.00 per girl

This program teaches girls to implement key concepts and skills related to personal money management. Girls learn to set realistic financial goals, develop a plan to reach their goal by maximizing their talents and time, establish a realistic savings plan and timeline and create a budget based on their current income and expenses. This program helps girls earn the CentsAbility pin (insignia not included).  Please allow 6-7 hours for this program.

*Character University
Who: 3rd Grade - 6th Grade, Girls 11-14
Cost: $7.00 per girl

This program aids girls in improving their decision-making skills in the areas of bullying, respect and responsibility. The program includes three videos that depict character mistakes youth often make and workbooks that allow girls to practice what they learn from the videos. Each girl will take home three activity workbooks and a Character University patch (insignia not included).  Please allow 4-5 hours for this program.

*The Choice Is Yours -- Literacy
Who: 3rd Grade - 6th Grade
Cost: $7.00 per girl

This program is designed to improve decision-making skills and drives girls to become better role models. Literacy education is also included in this program through an incorporation of the book Because of Winn-Dixie. Because of Winn-Dixie is a story about how one ten-year-old girl finds the courage to make amazing decisions. This program helps girls earn The Choice Is Yours badge. Each girl will take home a book and poster. (insignia not included)

*College and Beyond
Who: girls ages 11-14, girls ages 14-17
Cost: $3.50 per girl

This kit includes a variety of resources to help girls prepare to enter college and assist them in choosing a major and career focus.  This program also helps girls complete goals for the College 101 Focus Book.  Each group keeps a book (insignia not included).

*Girl Scout Bronze Award Training - NEW!
Who: 3rd Grade - 6th Grade
Cost: $10.00 deposit per groupl

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award a Girl Scout in 3rd grade - 6th grade (Junior Girl Scouts) can earn.  It is recommended that girls receive training prior to beginning requirements for earning the Girl Scout Bronze Award.  Not only does this kit provide information, it also includes fun hands-on activities!

*Girl Scout Gold Award Training - NEW!
Who: girls ages 14-17
Cost: $10.00 deposit per troop

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award a Girl Scout aged 14-17 can earn.  Girl Scouts are required to receive training prior to beginning requirements for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award.  Not only does this kit provide information, it also includes fun hands-on activities!  NOTE:  You must receive prior approval from the Adult Development and Program Services Department to use this kit instead of attending an on-site training.

*Girl Scout Silver Award Training - NEW!
Who: girls ages 11-14
Cost: $10.00 deposit per troop

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout aged 11-14 can earn.  It is highly recommended that Girl Scouts receive training prior to beginning requirements for earning the Girl Scout Silver Award.  Not only does this kit provide information, it also includes fun hands-on activities! 

*Girls' Stories of Relational Aggression - NEW!
Who: 3rd grade - 6th grade, girls ages 11-14, girls ages 14-17
Cost: $7.00 per group

This program includes a DVD and activity guide to help girls understand the common, yet serious problem of relational aggression, a type of bullying, among girls.

*The Great American Flag - NEW!
Who: 1st grade - 3rd grade, 3rd grade - 6th grade, girls ages 11-14, girls ages 14-17
Cost: $3.00 per girl

This program educates girls about the history and meaning behind the American flag and other important patriotic symbols and landmarks.  This program also helps girls in 1st - 3rd grades work toward earning the Wave the Flag Try-It; it helps girls in 3rd - 6th grades earn the United We Stand badge; it helps girls ages 11-14 work toward completing the American Patriotism interest project (insignia not included).

*Discovering Art
Who: 1st Grade - 3rd Grade, 3rd Grade - 6th Grade
Cost: $6.50 per girl


This program is designed to teach girls about the world of art and the many great contributions of female artists throughout history.  The Heart of Missouri Council has gathered a variety of women artist resources to bring the museum to you!  Each girl keeps an activity book and an art project.  Girls also work toward earning the Discovering Art patch (insignia not included).

*Math Whiz

Who:  3rd Grade - 6th Grade

Cost:  $3.00 per girl

This kit teaches girls that math is truly used everywhere:  to make change, follow a recipe, build a table, determine the distance between two towns--or even two galaxies!  Each girl keeps a quilt block and drawing.  Girls also work towards earning the Math Whiz badge (insignia not included).  Please allow 2 hours for this program.

*MouthPower
Who: 1st Grade - 3rd Grade, 3rd Grade - 6th Grade
Cost: 1st Grade - 3rd Grade: $5.50 per girl; 3rd Grade - 6th Grade: $3.50 per girl


This program addresses tobacco use, healthy eating, proper brushing techniques, and the history of dentistry.  Girls may work toward earning the MouthPower patch or a Dental Hygiene patch (insignia not included).  Girls keep floss, a toothbrush, and a sticker; girls in 1st - 3rd grades also get a book.  Please allow 2-3 hours for this program.

*The Penny Project
Who: 1st Grade - 3rd Grade (ages 6-8)
Cost: $3.00 per girl

This program teaches girls to implement key concepts and skills related to personal money management.  Girls learn how to define money, how it's earned and spent, how to save money, and what it means to invest.  Each girls keeps an activity workbook.  This program helps girls earn The Penny Project patch (insignia not included).  Please allow 5-6 hours for this program.

*PoliteKids 101
Who: K - 1st Grade, 1st Grade - 3rd Grade
Cost: $6.00 per girl

This program teaches manners and social etiquette through exciting hands-on activities. Topics include telephone etiquette, proper introductions, table manners and more. Girl Scouts across the United States have used this program to educate members about the importance of being polite. Girls will take home a PoliteKids 101 patch and workbook (insignia included).  Please allow 2-3 hours for this program.

*SafeKids 101
Who: 1st Grade - 3rd Grade, 3rd Grade - 6th Grade, Girls 11-14
Cost: $6.00 per girl

This program includes a 90-minute video curriculum that covers the common, yet serious safety issues our children face. Topics include fire safety, basic first aid, abduction, abuse and more. The course emphasizes learning through hands-on activities. Girls will take home a SafeKids 101 patch and workbook (insignia included).  Please allow 3-4 hours for this program.

Science Magic
Who: K - 1st Grade, 1st Grade - 3rd Grade, 3rd Grade - 6th Grade
Cost: $4.00 per girl

This program includes 11 fun science activities. This program helps girls in 1st - 3rd grades earn the Science in Action Try-It and work toward earning the Science Wonders Try-It. This program also helps girls in 3rd - 6th grades work toward earning the Science Discovery and Science Sleuth badges. Girls will keep their scientific creations (insignia not included).  Please allow 2-3 hours for this program.

*shape UP!
Who: K - 1st Grade, 1st Grade - 3rd Grade, 3rd Grade - 6th Grade, Girls 11-14, Girls 14-17
Cost: K - 3rd Grades: $5.50 per girl; 3rd Grade - 6th Grade: $6.00 per girl, Girls 11-17 - $7.00

This is a wellness program focused on rewarding girls for healthy eating and physical activity. This program also helps girls work toward earning the shape UP! patch. Each Girl Scout in K - 3rd grade will take home a jump rope and recipes, each girl in 3rd - 6th grade will take home a Frisbee and recipes, and each girl 11-17 will take home a Frisbee and a journal. Also, each group will get a cookbook, and girls 11-14 and 11-17 groups will also get a teen health book. (insignia not included).  Please allow 2-3 hours for this program.

*Strong Bones Strong Girls - NEW!
Who: girls ages 9-11
Cost: $7.00 per group

Developed in collaboration with the National Bone Health Campaign, this program educates girls about the importance of nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle choices in preventing osteoporosis.  The kit includes a video, leader guide, and posters.  Girls may work towards earning the Strong Bones Strong Girls patch (insignia not included).  Please allow 4-8 hours for this program.

*What's Your Drug IQ?
Who: girls ages 11-14, girls ages 14-17
Cost: $6.00 per girl

This program tests girls' knowledge about a variety of drug types through video and computer-based learning.  Each girl keeps an activity pamphlet.  This program can be a resource for groups working on their Women's Health interest project (insignia not included).

*You Can Be A Woman Astronomer
Who: 3rd grade - 6th grade
Cost: $3.00 per girl

This program introduces girls to the career of astronomy, teaching them about the variety of activities related to this field.  Girls also learn about the solar system and its components, practice identifying constellations, and more.  Each group keeps a book.  The Astronomy patch is a good match for this program (insignia not included).  Please allow 2 hours for this program. 

*You Can Be A Woman Marine Biologist
Who: 3rd grade - 6th grade
Cost: $3.00 per girl
This program introduces girls to the career of marine biology, teaching them about the variety of activities related to this field.  Girls learn about the marine habits of animals, play a marine biology game, and much more.  Each group keeps a book.  The Ocean Life patch is a good match for this program (insignia not included).  Please allow 2 hours for this program.

Who:  K - 1st Grade, 1st Grade - 3rd Grade (contact us about a kit for 3rd - 6th Grade)

Cost:  $6.00 per girl

This program was created in collaboration with the Zink the Zebra Foundation. Girls participate in fun activities that emphasize the diversity of people, respect for others and respect for self. This is a wonderful opportunity for girls to learn how to appreciate and respect individual differences. Girls will also take home a Zink the Zebra patch and zebra beanie toy (insignia included).  Please allow 2 hours for this program.

 

Discovery Fun LogoProgram Kits for Sale

Discovery Fun kits are educational, supplementary kits available for purchase from the Girl Scout Shop at the Danforth Service Center.  The kits include most of the supplies you need to complete the educational program and in some cases earn a badge or patch.

Discovery Fun kits are different from Girls Go! kits because they do not have to be returned to the council service center after completion.  And, since the kits are supplementary, they also don't contain every item you need to complete the project / patch program.  Excluded items often include things that a group alsoready owns (i.e., scissors, markers, rulers).  Discovery Fun kits are available year-round and must be reserved 3-5 days in advance of pick-up by contacting the Adult Development and Program Services Team.  Discovery Fun kits can be shipped to you for an additional fee of $15.00

*Art to Wear
Who:  K - 1st Grade, 1st Grade - 3rd Grade

Cost:  $5.50 per girl

This program teaches girls that art doesn't always have to be created on canvas, paper, or a wall.  Art can also be a part of your everyday clothing and accessories!  Girls will decorate a purse, paint faces, create a mask, and tie a macrame bracelet.  Girls also earn the Art to Wear Try-It (insignia not included).

*Fit for a Princess

Who:  3rd Grade - 6th Grade

Cost:  No charge


Provided by the Missouri Beef Industry Council, this program teaches girls about the importance of proper nutrition and physical fitness through activities like drama, games, and crafts.  Girls will earn the Princess ZIP patch (insignia not included).

*GoGirlGo!

Who:  3rd Grade - 6th Grade, Girls 11-14, Girls 14-17

Cost:  No charge


Provided by the Women's Sports Foundation, this unique education program helps girls learn about being physically active and avoiding risky behaviors.  It educates girls about body image, stress, smoking, drugs, and more.

*Jeweler

Who:  3rd Grade - 6th Grade

Cost:  $5.50 per girl


This program teaches girls that all types of materials can be used to create jewelry, from seashells to precious stones.  Girls will also learn about the symbolism of different types of jewelry, and they'll make a macrame anklet, a jewelry box, and more!  Girls earn the Jeweler badge (insignia not included).
